Our Story
Steinkopf Nursery began in 1931…
…when Fred and Myrtle Steinkopf (aka Grandma and Grandpa) moved to what was at the time known as Farmington Township. Beginning with trees, their stock soon expanded to flowering shrubs and roses. Demand for high-quality nursery stock grew along with the community around them and landscaping services soon became a staple of the business.
In the 70’s Fred’s son inherited the family business, and both it and the neighborhood continued to thrive. Working side by side with their seven children, Fred and Sharon kept the business going just as strong. To keep up with the growing needs of the Detroit community they expanded the nursery onto two adjacent pieces of property, expanding their already extensive selection of trees, shrubs, and horticultural services.
Today…
Our commitment to family and community is at the heart of our business. Siblings Beth and John run the business now, continuing the family tradition, offering the same exhaustive selection of high quality trees, shrubs, flowers, and horticultural services that we’ve been known for for decades.
Together with our (amazing!) employees we are now serving third and forth generation customers! With an overwhelming number of options available to them, we value each and every one of our customers who choose to partner with us and invest in the community.
